Job Description


The Isle of Tanera Mor is the largest of the Summer Isles Archipelago and located approximately 1.5 offshore from the village of Achiltibuie in the North-West Highlands.



To fully understand the art of restoration using classic building techniques and reclaimed materials.

To oversee an ambitious, multifaceted construction project, ensuring that the program is delivered sympathetically, safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, with attention paid to every detail.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the Construction Team, ensuring the operation is logical, cost effective and is always optimising productivity and efficiency
  • Responsible for appointing and managing all subcontractors
  • Responsible for detailing out scope of works and instructing site managers and contractors according
  • Responsible for clearly identifying construction phases and critical paths and key milestones within the projects and ensuring these are met
  • Responsible for working with the Project Manager and Design Team to ensure the required construction drawings are produced on time and to specification
  • Responsible for the preparation of daily / weekly / monthly task lists and ensuring all relevant staff are aware of priorities and deadlines
  • Ensure that the project is run within budget, providing regular reports to the project team and highlighting issues
  • Responsible for overseeing the production of Health and Safety documentation, and ensuring that the building sites comply fully with all current legislation and best practice


Skills Required:

  • This is restoration, not new builds, must have a classical building background and be interested old building techniques and methods
  • To have a decent knowledge and understanding and appreciation of highlands architecture
  • Resource management. Outstanding awareness of the logistical challenge of delivery of multiple, highly-varied projects concurrently
  • Must be able to visualise and interpret briefs and problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Need to be organised, calm, methodical, with good project and time management skills, ability to communicate in verbal and written formats well and to be able to delegate tasks effectively
  • Need to be driven, self-motivating, confident, honest, motivational, safety focused
  • Must be a Leader and set an example for others to follow


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

CSCS Manager card holder

Industry certificates in Site Safety Plus Site Managers’ Safety Training Scheme and Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme which are required for safe operations in the workplace

Full clean UK driver’s license

Competent in project management software

Ideally foundation degree, HNC / HND or degree in one of the following subjects Project Management:

  • Construction Management
  • Construction Engineering
  • Building Studies
  • Building Engineering
  • Ideally BSc (Hons)Construction Management or equivalent Level 6 Construction Diploma, mapped to the Chartered Institute of Building’s Education Framework
  • Ideally be RICS Chartered with 4+ years post qualification experience, either PM, QS or BS



  • 20 years in the industry, 5 years within a similar role

  • Part office based, part site based
