Job Description

This is a Mott MacDonald Bentley role, employed by Mott MacDonald.
Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald.

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.

We are looking for Mechanical Engineers with strong water/wastewater sector design experience to join our growing team. Your role will be to work collaboratively with the design team to provide mechanical design and support to our key client, Northumbrian Water.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver mechanical engineering design, including managing design quality cont rol processes
Contribute to the identification and development of affordable and low carbon solutions, including risk management.
Produce technical specifications, control philosophies and schedules.
Support engagement with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their design.
Understand the client’s standards and support the Design Lead to ensure that the mechanical design outputs comply with the required standards and quality requirements to achieve client acceptance.
Support the Project Leader and Design Lead in technical meetings with the client to achieve acceptances.
Appreciate the competing tensions of time, cost, and quality.
Manage safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability within your designs.

Qualified mechanical engineer with experience in water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure, and infrastructure design.
Have a broad understanding of water sector process plant, and electrical and control systems.
Use of software package for carrying out mechanical design calculations.
Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under CDM
Proven record in mentoring and developing junior staff in design.
Understanding of program, budget and quality requirements.
An understanding of procurement and construction.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Salary range is competitive, commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications.

Location:
MMB are an adopter of agile working and the role location is flexible. Whilst the role does not require the candidate to be based in the Seaham area, the role will require them to attend some meetings in Seaham to collaborate with their team and the client.
